unixhistory Hacks and fun

This is rather off topic, but never mind...

The MIT community has a history of what they call hacks, which are nothing to do with computers. The word hack at MIT usually refers to a clever, benign, and "ethical" prank or practical joke, which is both challenging for the perpetrators and amusing to the MIT community (and sometimes even the rest of the world!). So, here is a link to an MIT web site where you can find a big list of MIT hacks over the years.

Not wishing the Americans to have all the fun, here are details of a 50 year old stunt at Cambridge, where a car appeared on the Senate House roof. Strangely, the best report seems to be in the Daily Mail (!), so here is the link to that.

Many computer scientists like humour, believe it or not. The XKCD comic strip is a particular favourite, so check it out.
